Mrs. Conlin's class participated in an Oil Spill Clean Up as an Earth Day STEM Challenge. The class was split into 6 groups. Each group got their own "lake" and "bird" that had been affected by an oil spill. The challenge included each group collaborating with each other to choose any combination of 4 add-on items to use to clean up the oil in addition to a paper towel, spoon, and bowl. There was dawn dish soap, pipe cleaners, coffee filters, cotton balls, and cups available as add-on items. Some groups chose 2-3 of the same item while other groups chose 4 different items. It was so fun to see how they cleaned their "lakes" and "birds". Some "lakes" were left with little to no water, as it ended up all over the table and on the floor! It was a great, messy time!!

A message from Lori Olson, Interim Superintendent: Due to the many impacts of this recent snowstorm, we will be cancelling school for Monday, April 25, 2022. All buildings will be closed this day, and only our maintenance staff will be working during this emergency. Currently, electricity is down in all our buildings with no estimate of when it will be restored. The City of Williston has also informed us that they will not begin clearing school routes until Monday morning at the earliest. We will continue to monitor these situations and will let you know on Monday if school will be impacted again on Tuesday.

A message from Lori Olson, Interim Superintendent: It looks like Mother Nature is not done with us yet! The most recent forecast is projecting 12+ inches of snow through the weekend, and with that in mind, we will be keeping a close eye on the road conditions throughout town. We are planning on Monday being a regular school day, but if that changes, we will be notifying parents and staff Sunday evening.

Weather Alert
Back in March, Mrs. Norby's class completed a March Madness project that involved students picking teams from the NCAA Tournament to win. Students were then able to track their teams on a poster that Mrs. Norby made! At the end of the tournament, students sent pictures and letters to the teams they had chosen. The University of Arizona ended up sending Cabri a letter back, and she even received a t-shirt from them!

The 4th graders in Mrs. Lippert's class completed a STEM project before Easter break that involved building a house for their Peep. Students were given a bunch of material options to design a house and talked about how they wanted to make sure it would be a house where the Peep would be safe. One of their constraints was that they only had about 20 minutes to work on it. They could chose to work on it with a partner or on their own. Photo credit: Riley Thompson! (class photographer)
