With the unfortunate increase in violence, threats, cyberbullying, and disruptive social media “challenges” in schools throughout the country, the Williston Basin School District #7 would like to take a moment to remind families and students that our District takes a zero-tolerance approach to any misconduct of this nature. Williston Basin School District #7 is proud to partner with CHI St. Alexius Health Williston for our Partners in Health Program. Our Partners in Health Program will provide WBSD7 with opportunities to provide beneficial resources including expert reviewed health articles and blog posts, Staff Wellness Days, informational forums, and more.
Our first featured article is "Gather Around for the Benefits of Family Dinner." Did you know that having a regular family dinner can result in higher grade point averages and self-esteem for children and teens?

The Battle of the Book teams have been officially set! Nine teams from the 4th grade and five teams from the 3rd grade will compete at the end of January to be crowned the Rickard Champion. Both the first and second place winners from each grade will move on to our District competition in February. Those four teams will compete against other 3rd and 4th grade teams from around the District to be crowned District Champion. From there, the District Champion will move onto Regionals, where they will go against teams from Stanley, Watford City, and Trenton! Make sure you look below for specific dates for the competitions. Reminders will also be sent out to students before each of their teams competes! Battle On!

At this high energy, fast paced presentation you will learn about every app, how to monitor your child’s activity and see real time how to navigate the most popular social media apps. Sgt. Rich has spoken to over 1 million people worldwide and has been featured on NBC, FOX, CNN and Good Morning America!

Our students have been learning about New Year's Resolutions and how to make SMART goals in the future. Here are some of the projects relating to this around our Rickard hallways!
School is back in session, and winter is in full swing with temperatures ranging anywhere from 35*F to -27*F in the next 10 days. Remember elementary students still go outside for recess until temperatures reach -10*F.

Our whole Rickard family would like to make a huge shoutout and thank you to our PTO that does so much for our school and students. We are so thankful for their constant support to make sure our students and staff are successful. From providing snacks to our treat trolley to sponsoring our Rickard Staff Holiday Scavenger Hunt to purchasing needed supplies for our classrooms, we can not thank them enough for their hard work and dedication to making Rickard a safe and positive school environment for all to come into. Rickard's Kindergarten and 4th Grade classes worked together to decorate gingerbread houses on Tuesday. The students frosted and placed a multitude of decorations onto their houses and created wintry scenes complete with teddy graham snow angels and Santa's. And no gingerbread decorating would be complete without sneaking in a few treats to taste! 🍬🍭
The elves wanted more pictures posted from their night of shenanigans! Word has it that Mr. Klassen still hasn't unwrapped all his office supplies!

All three second grade classes at Rickard Elementary have partnered with Thrivent Financial for many years. The combined monetary contributions between Thrivent and parents/families allow shopping for and wrapping of gifts for kids in our community! This year, we sponsored nine students! Yay! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Pictured is Mrs. Larson's class learning how to wrap these gifts!
REMINDER: Tomorrow's dress-up theme is "Dashing Through the Snow!" Dress as one of Santa's reindeer!
An anonymous elf sent us some pictures of their busy night. It looks like they were up to some shenanigans involving Mr. Klassen and his office. Pictures of his face were plastered all over the school, and all of his office supplies were wrapped in holiday wrapping paper. An investigation is under way to determine which elves were involved! So far, there are no leads!
